When it seems to us that our emotions appear out of the blue and make no sense, we can feel hopeless or out of control. This practice helps us better understand our emotions, see that they show up in specific circumstances, have thoughts, urges and behaviors associated, and do make sense.
Please think of a recent event that was either pleasant or somewhat distressing. Describe the situation, as well as associated thoughts, emotions, urges (what you felt like doing) and behavior (what you did) to help yourself understand the context of the emotions you are experiencing.
